Carol Grey, DVM — Co-Chief of Staff
Dr. Grey graduated in 1998 from Michigan State College of Veterinary Medicine, and has been a practicing small animal veterinarian in Maine since that time. Dr. Grey is a Co-Chief of Staff and a veterinarian here at Gray-New Gloucester Animal Hospital. Her interests include soft tissue surgery and emergency medicine, but she loves all aspects of veterinary medicine!
Dr. Grey lives in Gorham with her three children, three dogs, one cat and a tortoise named Sally. Her hobbies include anything ocean-related, painting and traveling.
Kristen Matzkin, VMD — Co-Chief of Staff
Dr. Kristen Matzkin, our Co-Chief of Staff, is a 1995 graduate of the University of New Hampshire, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Marine and Freshwater Biology. She then moved from New England to Philadelphia to attend the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine, graduating in 1999.
After enjoying 10 years of small animal practice in Pennsylvania and Delaware, Dr. Matzkin was thrilled with the opportunity to relocate to Southern Maine. She joined Gray-New Gloucester Animal Hospital in the fall of 2009 and looks forward to continuing her career and raising her family here in Maine. Dr. Matzkin particularly enjoys internal medicine, preventive care, and dermatology.
Marie A. Merrill, VMD
Dr. Marie Merrill joined our team in April 2014. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Maine in Orono before earning a VMD degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 2010. After graduation, she returned to her home state and worked at a small animal private practice, as well as an emergency clinic, before coming on board here at Gray New Gloucester. She has a special interest in feline and canine dentistry.
Dr. Merrill enjoys walking her dogs (two mixed-breed rescue dogs), and spending additional time outdoors with her husband (gardening, playing tennis, and spending time at camp with family).
Tracy Anne Filler, VMD, MS
Dr. Tracy Anne Filler is originally from Hershey, Pennsylvania. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Biology with a minor in History/World Cultures from St. Francis University. She then went on to pursue a Master's degree in Cell and Molecular Physiology at Villanova University.
While teaching at Villanova, Dr. Filler decided to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002. After graduation, Dr. Filler spent a yearlong small animal medicine and surgery internship at Bath-Brunswick Animal Hospital where she grew to love the state of Maine. For the past 12 years, Dr. Filler had been practicing in Pennsylvania. However the desire to return back to Maine was strong leading her to join our office in September of 2015.
